The Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is celebrated annually on August 19th. This important day marks the historic signing of the Treaty of Rawalpindi in 1919, which established Afghanistan as a fully independent nation, free from British influence. The treaty also marked the end of the Third Anglo-Afghan War and helped define Afghanistan’s modern borders.
