This date coincides with the birthday of one of our greatest national heroes, Andres Bonifacio, the founder of the Katipunan and leader of the Philippine Revolution against Spanish rule. However, in 1989, then-president Corazon Aquino signed Proclamation No. 374, moving the celebration of National Heroes Day to the fourth Monday of August. This change was later reversed by President Rodrigo Duterte in 2017, setting the date for National Heroes Day back to November 30.
