30-April International Jazz Day:

After assignment as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Intercultural Dialog on July 22, 2011, Herbie Hancock declared his aim to make an International Day commending the political job of jazz. In November 2011, following an ideal suggestion by the 187th Executive Board, UNESCOs General Conference declared April 30 as International Jazz Day, perceiving jazz to create and increment intercultural trades and understanding between societies with the end goal of shared cognizance and tolerance. The date of April 30 was proposed to situate International Jazz Day as the zenith of the Smithsonian Institution April Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM), however, no conventional association exists among JAM and International Jazz Day.

The United Nations General Assembly officially perceived International Jazz Day on its authority schedule in December 2012.
