6-February International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation:

Female genital mutilation (FGM) incorporates all methods that involve changing or injuring the female genitalia for non-scientific reasons. And it is recognized across the world as a violation of the human rights, the health and the integrity of women and ladies.

Female who undergo female genital mutilation face term-time period complications such as intense pain, surprise, excessive bleeding, infections, and issue in passing urine.

Although primarily concentrated in 30 countries in Africa and the Middle East, female genital mutilation is an ordinary hassle. Female genital mutilation continues to persist among immigrant populations living in Western Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand.

Impact of Covid-19:

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively and disproportionately affected women on the elimination of all dangerous practices together with female genital mutilation. UNFPA estimates additional 2 million ladies projected to be vulnerable to undergoing female genital mutilation via 2030. The United Nations, through its UNFPA-UNICEF joint programme, has been adapting interventions that make sure the integration of female genital mutilation in humanitarian and publish-crisis reaction.

Elimination of Female Genital Mutilation:

To promote the elimination of female genital mutilation, coordinated, and systematic efforts are wanted. And that they must interact with entire communities and recognition on human rights, gender equality, sexual training and attention to the wishes of women and girls who suffer from its effects.

Together, we can eliminate female genital mutilation by 2030. Doing so will have a positive ripple effect on the health, education and economic advancement of girls and women.
