As of 2003, it’s been located every year to create consciousness about the importance of mountains to lifestyles, spotlight the possibilities and constraints in mountain improvement, and construct alliances to convey high-quality change to mountain peoples and environments around the world.

Inauguration of this Day:
December 11, “International Mountain Day” became distinctive via the United Nations General Assembly in 2003. The General Assembly “endorsed the worldwide network to prepare events at all tiers on that day to highlight the significance of sustainable mountain development.”
The Theme of the Day 2021:
The theme of this year’s International Mountain Day (IMD) on 11 December could be sustainable mountain tourism.
Functions of Mountains:
Mountains play a vast function in supplying water and food supply to the millions of people inside the world. Mountains provide 60-80 percent of the arena’s freshwater. According to UNO, almost one billion humans stay in mountain regions, and over half of the human population depends on mountains for water and nutrition.
