The Importance of National Coast Guard Day – March 21

The History of National Coast Guard Day

On January 28, 1915, President Woodrow Wilson signed into law the “Act to Create the Coast Guard”. This is why the Coast Guard celebrates National Coast Guard Day on March 21 each year. It was not until 1939 that the title of the Revenue Marine was officially changed to the United States Coast Guard.
